The Meet-a-sheet project explores the way we interact with digital systems, through the use of fabric screens.
Our goal was to give the users the chance to experience a touch screen like they had never done before, by creating an elastic pushcreen that gathers 50% more interaction information than regular touch screens.
Meet-a-sheet was prototyped in 3 weeks using a spandex sheet, a Kinect camera, a projector and custom software developed on Quartz Composer.
- X, Y and Z interaction
- Texturized Sensing
- Easily Shapeable
- Warm Feeling
- Physical Feedback
Meet-a-sheet was featured at the 2011 Hyper Island’s Exploring Technology Exhibition “Work Hard, Play Hard” in Stockholm.

The Meet-a-sheet case film
Video footage from an early prototype of Meet-a-sheet. V 1.0.
Meet-a-sheet on V 1.5. In this video you can see the insides of the prototype. The projector is aimed towards a mirror set in a 45º angle to the screen to increase the size of the screen within the constrains of a small box set up. The kinect camera is aimed straight to the spandex sheet to detect whenever a user pushes it.
Finally, the working demo at Exploring Technology Festival.
